Xu Haidong

Xu Haidong (Chinese: 徐海东; Pinyin: Xú Hǎidōng; June 17, 1900-March 25, 1970) was a Grand General in the People's Liberation Army of China.
Xu was born in Huangpi (now belongs to Dawu), Hubei Province of China. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1925.
He was made Grand General or Da Jiang (大将) in 1955. This rank was awarded to 10 of the veteran leaders of the PLA in 1955 and never conferred again.
He died in Zhengzhou in March 1970. He was the chief editor of the book "Military History of the Red 25th Army.
