[edit] Order of the Arrow
I see that you wikied the 3 honors which do not yet have articles associated. were you planning on writing these article and do you think that the honors have enough to say about them that the need articles of their own seperate from just ahving a section in the OA article? let me know on my talk page what you think. Cavebear42 22:01, 29 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I'm fine with the creation of a page, I'll even help write it. I'm thinking Order of the Arrow Honors maybe as the title, since the brotherhood has no rank. Perhaps we could start by writing something in a == Honors == section on the Order of the Arrow page in order to help get people involved and then we can move it off to its own? [edit] The Lesser Five
I too did not know about the Lesser Five until I heard it in college admissions discussions. While the term is not in wide-spread use, it _does_ exist (ask anyone active in college admissions).
I think it should be mentioned in the Ivy League article. Since you are at Cornell, according to your profile, I think there is a bias factor in your removal of my changes.

[edit] So Cool!
Oh my god. Xtreambar is SO SEXY! I WANT TO HAVE BABIES WITH XTREAMBAR AND HIS ROOMMATE DOMINIC!!
Nice Risley article. I got your message to the listserv -- it made a good excuse to finally get a login around here. I've been meaning to for a while.
If you can't figure out who this is, I'll give you a hint. - Cakedamber 23:29, 22 Mar 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Which Ivy are You?

- Whoa. I wrote that thing years ago right after I was accepted to Cornell. So, to answer your question, yes.
--Xtreambar 12:28, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I'm Princeton... my mother keeps on telling me I should have gone there. I guess she was right, Cornell IS too hard for me! Lepidoptera 21:00, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Far Above Cayuga's Waters
Unless you're planning on doing an analysis of the lyrics, they don't belong in Wikipedia articles, but in our sister project, Wikisource, and then link to it in External Links. RickK 06:55, May 24, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Mundane
I give in, how does this article qualify for deletion? Please can you outline your reasons on the vote page Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Mundane, thanks. You never know maybe it can be fixed instead. MGSpiller 20:07, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Approval ratings
For consistancy's sake, we should stick with the numbers given by the CNN/USA Today/Gallup polling. That should be updated at some point on the website that is linked to in the image description page. Thanks, though. --tomf688{talk} 01:07, 13 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] cornell pix
I really like the old picture of the arts quad you loaded in, I felt the modern clocktower picture worked well as a picture for the Cornell article. I am going to try and find somewhere to put it back in. Ben 21:34, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] more pictures
Very nice, where are you getting them from? Old Cornellians in Kroch? Glad to see you (I'm guessing?) getting rid of copyrighted photos. I'm gonna go through my collections and try to find a nice one of the inside of Lynah. Can you think of any other part of campus that needs a photo uploaded? WSH or maybe AD White House? Cornell Rockey 15:36, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
Personally, the Ezra Cornell article really needs one. Cornell Rockey 20:35, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Cornell Founders
I saw someone recently made a change to an error I noticed in the Cornell History section: Ezra Cornell and Andrew D. White were both Republicans — in fact, one of Cornell's heroes was Lincoln, who, don't forget, was a Republican (this map is pretty cool). I was going to find a source and then change it; if you'd like I can still get one. Other than that, keep up the good work — the History section is a great addition to the article. I have to admit, I'm working on reworking the article, including a major rewrite/expansion of Cornell's history and would be really interested in your feedback. btm 00:32, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
Sorry, that a minor flub on my part, what with the liberal/conservative leanings of the parties switching back and forth over the centuries. --Xtreambar 20:03, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- No problem at all. =) btm 07:25, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Baseball on Wikicities
Hello Xtreambar, Googie Man here and I want to ask you something as a fellow baseball fan (and partiuclarly a Red Sox fan) on Wikipedia. Jimbo and Angela have made a new webstie called Wikicities. This link in particular will take you to the baseball Wikicity. As you'll see it's similar to Wikipedia, but my hope is this will allow baseball fans to do more and different things, like reporting on games, in depth statistics, create mulitple pages for pictures, and whatever else baseball fans care to create. You've done great work on Wikipedia and I was hoping you could help get this baseball Wikicity off the ground. Please let me know what you think either at my talk page or email me at terry@wikia.com Thanks! Googie Man(Talk), 19:04, 5 January 2006 (UTC).
[edit] sage colleges/pictures
I'm fairly sure that Henry W. Sage and Russell Sage were just barely related, and that the Sage College @ CU doesn't count as one of the Sage Colleges. On the other hand, Prudence Risley (of risley hall fame) was Russell Sage's mother (see link below), and the Russell Sage Foundation / Margaret Olivia Slocum Sage gave money to Cornell to build Risley Hall. The risley article appears to be your baby, so ill let you add that. I'm going to remove Sage Res. College from the Sage Colleges page.
- random website with info about prudence + her husband elisha sage
- another website with prudence and elisha, linking them to russell; henry w. sage is listed lower on the page, but can't make sense of their relationship, i'll try that at a later date
Nice work on the ezra picture, btw. Is is okay, copyright wise, to just snag pictures from Cornell libe's website and upload them? Cornell Rockey 20:22, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Cornell Arts Quad.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Cornell Arts Quad.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 21:40, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] JDoorjam's RfA
Thank you! Hey Xtreambar/Archive 1, thank you for your support in my RfA: it passed with a final tally of 55/1/2. If you want a hand with anything, please gimme a shout. Again, thanks! – JDoorjam Talk 21:38, 9 March 2006 (UTC) |
[edit] re: Thank you
I just want to say thanks for accepting the criticism gracefully. I know it can be difficult, but I'm sure the article will be much better for it! - Samsara (talk • contribs) 16:31, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Penn Student
Please do not get upset. You are insecure about the fact that you attend a low ranking state school (ok half state school) . Other than the open green spaces, your campus looks ugly. Cornell's buildings are absolutely awful. Also, hate to break the news but Cornell was not even around during the Colonial period. Just because you could not get into one of the Ancient Four (Penn, Harvard, Yale and Princeton) does not mean you can make rude comments. Grow up. Just to let you know Cornell is named after one of my ancestors. Oh, knowbody uses "UPENN" (only low class non WASPs); its "PENN." —Preceding unsigned comment added by [[User:|]] ([[User talk:|talk]] • contribs)
- For now, I've reverted the most recent edit of this user. They are bordering on violating 3RR; they've pretty clearly already crossed the line in regards to WP:LEGAL and WP:CIVIL. I will monitor this situation as it evolves (which, hopefully, it won't). Thank you for bringing it to my attention. Regards, JDoorjam Talk 01:56, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

So, I slept on it, and realized reluctantly this morning that, while User:Mcorcoran has violated WP:CIVIL, WP:LEGAL, WP:DICK, WP:3RR, and probably some I'm missing, he's right about reverting Cornell's admissions statistics until something official comes out. That's going to happen in the next couple of weeks; the page can hold tight until then. I've reverted back to his original edit. Until something more substantial than a prediction based on usual acceptance numbers and the number of applicants comes in, we should stick with 26.1%. I look forward to the triumphant return of this year's stats when we have the number out to 3 or 4 significant figures. Truly, JDoorjam Talk 13:07, 13 March 2006 (UTC)The Daily Sun wrote an article about it this morning. I've put it into the Ivy League article. JDoorjam Talk 14:15, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
