[edit] Yorba Linda

Some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Yorba Linda (author) may not be sufficiently well-known to merit articles of their own. The Wikipedia community welcomes newcomers, and encourages them to become Wikipedians. On Wikipedia, each user is entitled to a user page in which they can describe themselves, and this article's content may be incorporated into that page. However, to merit inclusion in the encyclopedia proper, a subject must be notable. We encourage you to write or improve articles on notable subjects. --Bill 19:03, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Rdd.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Rdd.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 20:10, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Dropkick Kittie

A tag has been placed on Dropkick Kittie, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be a biographical account about a person, group of people, or band, but it does not indicate how or why he/she/they is/are notable. If you can indicate why Dropkick Kittie is really notable, I advise you to edit the article promptly, and also put a note on Talk:Dropkick Kittie. Any admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles. You might also want to read our general biography criteria. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that admins should wait a while for you to assert his/her/their notability, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and then immediately add such an assertion. It is also a very good idea to add citations from reliable sources to ensure that your article will be verifiable.  (aeropagitica)   (talk)  21:43, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Do not remove other people's comments from Talk pages. That's a really good way of getting blocked from editing. User:Zoe|(talk) 23:05, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

OK, not a problem. The article reads like a promotional piece, not an encyclopedia article. We strive for neutral point of view. Give straightforward facts and references for them. The article needs to be pruned of hyperbole and fan opinions. User:Zoe|(talk) 00:47, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Have you read WP:Music for the notability criteria for bands? Indie-label bands need one charting album release and this band's album isn't due out until later in the year/next year. Has the band toured nationally or had a notable person as a member? If none of these criteria are fulfilled then I suggest that Myspace is a better location for this information, rather than an online encyclopedia.  (aeropagitica)   (talk)  21:46, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] QuestionQuestion

This article was a non-notable biography according to the criteria set out in WP:BIO.  (aeropagitica)   (talk)  21:41, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Please note that I do not know what to copy exactly, but I hoped I did it correctly. This is exactly the message I got, and I followed the direction best to my abilities.

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reasons:

Autoblock of 64.233.173.85 lifted. Use the same trick if you run into another autoblock. ;) Sorry for the trouble!

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Usexport.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Usexport.png. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fritz S. (Talk) 14:06, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fred Phelps

If you were trying to semi-protect the Fred Phelps article, you should be aware that the {{sprotected}} template doesn't do that; it only displays a message. Semi-protection is requested at WP:RFPP. Based on the relatively low level of vandalism in the article, it's not a candidate for semi-protection right now. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 06:58, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: I stole your thing.

Yeah, that's fine. I'm rather flattered that you've taken it too, honestly, and also happy to see more members not afraid to share their opinions. Good luck here on Wikipedia! ~Switch t 07:50, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

I just figured out how to make a template message, so I turned my disclaimer into one. I edited your user page accordingly, but didn't change anything else. If you know of anyone else using the disclaimer, could you let them know for me? Cheers! ~Switch t 11:49, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Namolibrennet.jpg listed for deletion

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Namolibrennet.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. – riana_dzasta 04:56, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

This image does not have a source or license associated with it. This is the second time (at least) that you have uploaded this image. If a proper source and license are not provided within 7 days this image will be deleted again. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 19:12, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HUMANWINE - page

it is so wonderful that you fight to make a page for HUMANWINE here but you must know first that HUMANWINE was started by Holly Brewer and M@ (Mat) McNiss way back in 2001 . HUMANWINE is not as you say "and it's the side-project by Dresden Dolls' drummer Brian Viglione." Holly and M@ recruited Brian for just one album and the Spring fighting Naked Tour, they invite many other musicians from other bands to record and perform with them. Brian Carpenter from Beat Circus, Paul Dilley from Reverend Glasseye and Brian Viglione of The Dresden Dolls. I just want to make sure that you know this in case you do succeed in getting a page put up for HUMANWINE. (ALL CAPS NO GAPS since 2002)

I love their music too, I tried to get a page put up here for them and it was torn down immediately. -Karen S

[edit] Dresden Dolls article

hi Xoreox,

thanks for making an effort to get the LGBT category added back to the Dresden Dolls article.

i have some thoughts on how to make good enough edits, that if Dhartung opposes it, we can get him overruled.

if you like to work on this (it will be some months until I can do more then assist), email me from the WP link "E-mail this user" on my talk page

i'm also lentower on shadowbox.

thanx either way -len —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lentower (talkcontribs) 00:36, 3 May 2007 (UTC).

[edit] User Boxes

You have absolutely the most eclectic collection of user boxes that I have ever seen. You are definitely difficult to categorize (which, I imagine, is a source of personal pride). Anyway, I enjoyed reading the list. Thanks. Unschool 18:24, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Regarding your reply to the above warning, please note that your change was vandalism, and that repeated changes of that nature will eventually lead to a block on your account. You're more than welcome to hold any opinions you please, but we're trying to build a neutral encyclopedia, here. You're welcome to contribute productively, but I do have to ask that you abide by at least our core policies. – Luna Santin (talk) 07:08, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Mementomori.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Mementomori.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 15:05, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Defamation warning

An important message

This notice has been left for you because another Wikipedia user suspects that, perhaps inadvertently, you may have defamed someone in your contributions. Please recheck your edits. Do not make allegations against someone unless you have provided evidence from a reliable publication, and then make sure you describe the allegations in accordance with our content policies, particularly Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:No original research. Don't rely on hearsay, rumours, or things you believe without evidence to be facts, and don't use sources to create a novel narrative. Wikipedia requires reliable sources for all claims. Please see our policy on biographies of living persons.

If you may have inadvertently defamed someone in an article, do two things:

  1. If the material is still there, remove it immediately. You may wish to use an edit summary like "Removing possible defamation" to prevent it from being reverted.
  2. Leave a note on the administrator's noticeboard saying that you have accidentally included defamatory claims in a named article or articles. Do not repeat the claim(s). The revision(s) containing the material can then be deleted from the page history.

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Aml.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Aml.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. After Midnight 0001 11:48, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
