[edit] Crux

In Crux (disambiguation) I have deleted your entry "* Crux, punk band", as it points to the page about the star constellation Crux (= the Southern Cross). If you restore this line, please provide more information about this punk band "Crux" and prove that it is notable: see WP:NN. Anthony Appleyard 04:55, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] List of California companies

I'm going to nominate List of California companies for deletion.--evrik (talk) 10:23, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

  • I just reverted some of the edits you made to the articles in the California companies cat. I'm curious why you made those edits. --evrik (talk) 16:38, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Gates Corporation

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have perfomed a web search with the contents of Gates Corporation, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.globalspec.com/Supplier/Profile/Gates. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 15:54, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Blue Beacon International

The article Blue Beacon International has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki 18:13, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Categories

If an article has a category for a city, you do not need to add one for the state. The reason being that the city category is also included in the state category. Vegaswikian 21:35, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:TacoJohnsModern.PNG

Thanks for uploading Image:TacoJohnsModern.PNG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 17:10, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Jesus Wept (band)

A tag has been placed on Jesus Wept (band), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per speedy deletion criterion A7.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. —treyomg he's back 00:21, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Promise Keepers category

Hi there! Can you elaborate on this edit? The Assemblies of God article doesn't mention "Promise Keepers" and the Promise Keepers doesn't mention "Assemblies of God". If there's a connection can you add something to one of the articles? --Stormie 02:14, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Companies

Is there some sort of discussion on where it was decided to move everthing in the Portland area to the "companies based in Portland metro area"? One, it needs to be renamed as there is more than one Portland (that's why its Companies based in Portland, Oregon), and second we just moved away from a similar situation as editors had a tendincy to throw any business within 200 miles of Portland into the category, since the metro area tends to be an arbitrary and variable area (add changed frequently as Salem used to be part of it and Yamhill County did not). Thanks. Aboutmovies (talk) 01:38, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

I've nominated the category for deletion, here: Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2007 November 21#Category:Companies based in the Portland metropolitan area. Katr67 (talk) 15:38, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
My comments on this user's entire collection of changes at Wikipedia:Editor_assistance/Requests#Unnecessary_.28IMO.29_category_changes. What level of granularity makes sense? --CliffC (talk) 20:34, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Alabama

Please do not change Category:Companies based in Alabama to Category:Companies based in Birmingham, Alabama on company pages. If you would like to add the catergory, please make it seperate from Category:Companies based in Alabama. Thanks

[edit] Royal Caribbean International link suggestion.

I got a response back from one editor of the page, who thought adding my site might have merit. He suggested asking other page editors to consider the site and see if a link can/should be added. I'm noticing that there is already a link to a site described as an "independent" resource on RCI, and with due respect to that sites owner, it is a fraction of the resource and project I am working on myself. The community is growing in activity, provides information not seen elsewhere on the internet. Not that it is the intent of Wikipedia to become a large-scale links page, but I would argue RoyalCaribbeanFan.com warrants a link given established standards already on display.

The specific site link is www.RoyalCaribbeanFan.com.

I'd appreciate a few more people looking into it, and possibly acting on adding the link if it does have the merit it would seem to have. —Preceding unsigned comment added by NWLB (talkcontribs) 05:21, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Categories

Stop unnecessarily removing categories from pages please. Shadowblade (talk) 04:39, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Please use an edit summary to justify your reasoning.  — MapsMan talk | cont ] — 11:33, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
Hello. Please don't forget to provide an edit summary. Thanks, and happy editing.

Please stop removing categories from articles without an edit summary like you did here. You have been advised against this practice by other users. If you continue to do this, it may be considered vandalism and appropriate action can be taken against your account. Thanks. ++Arx Fortis 00:04, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Edit Summaries

In reviewing your edit history, it is apparent that you make it a habit of not providing an edit summary. Editors are encouraged to always use edit summaries. Doing so helps to communicate your intent/reasoning behind your edits. See WP:ES. Thanks. ++Arx Fortis 00:16, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

A good example of why this is important would be your recent edit to Griffin Technology. You removed Category:Companies based in Tennessee[1] (I'm assuming because it was redundant to Category:Companies based in Nashville), but because you didn't use an edit summary, another edit was confused as to why and reverted you.[2]
There's a way of making sure you always use an edit summary. Go to Special:Preferences, and click on the "Editing" tab. The last option is "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary", which if checked, will prevent you from leaving blank edit summaries. EVula // talk // // 19:51, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] List of Alabama companies

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article List of Alabama companies, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of List of Alabama companies. [edit] Estes Park, Colorado

Thanks for you recent edit to Estes Park, Colorado about the old ski areas. Although I was well aware of Hidden Valley (my father-in-law ran the ski school there in the late 70s and early 80s and my wife and her sisters were all ski instructors there) I wasn't aware of the earlier ones. Very cool - again, thanks! Merenta (talk) 20:53, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] First American Bank (Alabama)

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article First American Bank (Alabama), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). [edit] WFTDA

Women's Flat Track Derby Association seems to be based in North Carolina, and only uses a St. Louis PO box as a public contact address. The corporation has been registered in North Carolina since Dec 8 2006.[3] Do you have other info pointing to St. Louis? —mjb (talk) 00:00, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Milwaukee Community Sailing Center

An editor has nominated Milwaukee Community Sailing Center, an article which you have created or worked on, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Milwaukee Community Sailing Center and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. --Eastmain (talk) 00:03, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Airline categories

There is a discussion on the project page about adding transportation and economy categories to airline articles. Basically the consensus seems to be saying these are not appropriate categories for airline articles. Vegaswikian (talk) 22:53, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 18:43, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] "Economy of (city)" categories

Based on a this discussion it is clear that your adding of this type of category to every business article is not a reasonable use of categories. Please refrain from doing so in the future. Vegaswikian (talk) 21:40, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

I second the above. You often add multiple categories for "Economy of ..." to individual company articles. A company is properly listed under the category "Companies based in (City, State)." Excess and inappropriate categorization make wikipedia less relevant and harder to navigate.
For example, all of the categories you had added Here were inappropriate and deleted.OccamzRazor (talk) 21:32, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Lewisville Independent School District

Thanks for adding categories to the Lewisville Independent School District article. I just wanted to clarify that if you add Carrollton, it would be wise to also add cities that are also mostly served by LISD (such as Flower Mound).
