Crossing the Rubicon, the American Empire at the End of the Age of Oil, is a book, published in September 2004 by author Michael C. Ruppert (affiliated to From the Wilderness).
This book (600 pp.) gives a detailed analysis of the events surrounding the September 11, 2001 attacks and concludes that it is unfeasible that the attacks would have been committed without the co-operation of the USA government; in particular Dick Cheney is called 'prime suspect'.
Part of the author's case is built upon the idea of Peak oil - that world oil production has passed its maximum and is in decline.
