Ximena Sariñana (born Ximena Sariñana Rivera on October 29, 1985) is a famous Mexican singer and actress. Ximena is the daughter of Fernando Sariñana and screenwriter Carolina Rivera, niece of famous Mexican actress Angélica Rivera and producer José Alberto Castro, brother of Verónica Castro.

[edit] Telenovelas

Before starting with music, Ximena started in telenovelas. She have done three telenovelas until today. Her first telenovela was María Isabel as the role of Rosa Ibbara and starred by mexican actress Adela Noriega. then she participated in Luz Clarita starred by Daniela Luján in which her role was a girl called Mariela de la Fuente who was the daughter of Don Mariano de la Fuente (played by César Évora). Her role was about a jelously girl who hates Luz Clarito. Her last participation on mexican telenovales was on Gotita de Amor as Enriqueta.

Her debut was in the movie in 1994 produced by her father, Fernando Sariñana. Other important movies in which she acted and her roles were Ximena in El Segundo Aire, Mariana in Amar te duele and Valetina in Niñas Mal directed by her father. Her lastlest movie in which she will act is called Enemigos íntimos and will be released in 2008

In 2007, Ximena Sariñana acted on mexican movie Dos Abrazos directed by newcomer Enrique Begne. This movie won Best New Narrative Filmmaker on Festival de Cine Tribeca (Tribeca's movie festival). Her effort was awarded on April 15, 2008. Ximena won Mejor Papel Femenino (Best Actress) on XXXVIII Diosas de Plata of PECIME[1]

Her first steps towards music were singing the theme song to the 1996 Mexican telenovela titled Luz Clarita at the tender age of 8 written by Ruben Zepeda. At the age of 14, she composed three songs of the soundtrack of mexican movie Amar te duele. She went on to be part of the band called “Feliz No Cumpleaños”, a mexican funk-jazz, pop-rock band, they have the EP “La Familia Feliz”

Her first solo album Mediocre was released on February 12, 2008 by Warner Music. Ximena wrote most of the tracks of the album. The album debut on Mexico Top 100 Album at #19[2] and in 5 weeks, the album reached position #2, just losing to Vicente Fernández's lastest album Para Siempre. Three months after, Ximena Sariñana's debut album was certified gold by AMPROFON for selling more than 50,000 copies.[3] This award was given from Antonio Douglas Campos to Ximena Sariñana.

The first single "Vidas Paralelas" is a success, having a huge radioplay in mexican radio play. Actually charts at #9 on México Top 100 singles chart and number-one on the Los 40 singles chart [4]. The video for her first single was shot in Iceland and directed by Pablo Dávila. It was released on MTV Mexico in late 2007 and had at the beginning a little airplay but after the single was released on radios, the video obtain a huge airplay debuting at the Top 20 of MTV chart and reaching #1 on May 31, 2008.
