From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Xiaochi is an ancient name of a Chinese city. Xiaochi is in the place of Nanyingchi county, Henan province, China. The history of this city can be traced back to 1300 years ago, Donghan dynasty. It was named after a very important mountain, Xiao Mountain.

Xiao Mountain is not home to resorts, and it is not famous because it is a mountain, but rather because of the military position. From the BC age, this mountain and such area was the important boundary between lots of powerful kingdoms. In order to invade others' country, the Xiao Mountain is the first, and also the last fortress to protect themselves.

A very famous history writer, recorded an important combat in Xiao Mountain, west north part of Xiaochi, took place in April, 267 BC. Empire Jin defeated Empire Qin by trick, which finally hold Qin Dynasty from union whole China for more than 60 years.

Xiaochi is the only city which is named after Xiao Mountain nowadays. The place is also famous because that there are different explanation of the pronunciation of Xiao. The written version of Xiaochi is as the follows Chinese word:

In one of the most Chinese authoritative dictionary <Ci Hai>, Xiaochi should be Yaochi, because they try to follow the ancient pronunciation.

On the other hand, <Ci Yuan>, <Xinhua Dictionary>, <Chinese Dictionary> and <Modern Chinese Dictionary> are all inclining to the pronunciation of Xiaochi.

Such confusion leads to a critical problem related to High Education Entrance Exam of China. All students in China Mainland are required to pass the Chinese standardized exam which tends to test the pronumciation of Chinese words and history, so during the exam, which is the correct answer is much tricker than Empire Jin.[neutrality disputed]

The professors who are still fighting for this two pronuncations are still in the combat no lighter than the war between Jin and Qin, the only problem is, this war is still not finished.[neutrality disputed]
