Small seal script epigraph on the standard weight prototype of Qin Dynasty. Made from iron, this prototype was unearthed in 1973 at Wendeng City (文登市), Weihai, Shandong Province.

紀元前221年、中国統一を成し遂げた秦は、法治の確立や度量衡の統一の他、文字の統一を行った。この際、小篆が正式に統一書体として採用され、権力誇示に利用されるとともに、公的証明に広く使用された。

「廿六年詔権量銘」はこの時に度量衡の標準器の本体や証明用の銅板に刻まれた証明文で、やや字形に崩れが見られるが数少ない小篆の史料の１つである。なお、おもりの表面に刻まれているため、拓本は大きく弧を描いている。

English: Chinese characters - seal script

Seal script was popular during 500 BC. to 200 BC. and usually have some varieties. During 221 BC. Qin dynasity unified China and written styles, measures as well. This is a standard written sample engraved in a unified iron weight for balance. c.221 BC.

Copied from a old Chinese book published before the Chinese copy right law established.
