Xi Andromedae (ξ And / ξ Andromedae) is a binary star in the constellation Andromeda. It also has the traditional name Adhil.
Xi Andromedae is a spectroscopic binary which is classified as an orange K-type giant with an apparent magnitude of +4.87. It has an orbital period of 17.77 days and is approximately 196 light years from the Earth.
Flamsteed was not designated Bayer Cha. for his 46th of Andromeda in his star catalogue and atlas. And he was erroneously designated "ξ" for his 49th of Andromeda (Bayer's "A" And).
