Xi-Cheng Zhang

Xi-Cheng Zhang is director of the Center for Terahertz Research at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is the current J. Erik Jonsson ’22 Professor of Science, and a professor in the Physics Department and the Department of Electrical, Computer, and System Engineering. As director of the Center for Terahertz Research, he has been involved in ground breaking research using Terahertz radiation, a part of the spectrum between microwaves and infrared, and the traditional bounds of electronics, and phonics. Terahertz radiation, or "T-Rays" have many potential applications for 3D scanning, non-destructive testing, and spectroscopy.
