[edit] Design and development
A C-119 fuselage was cut down to just below the flight deck and a removable pod was designed to fit in its place. Smaller wheels were installed forward of each of the main landing gear struts to serve as nose wheels. The goal was to allow cargo to be pre-loaded into moveable pods, which could then be rolled under the airframe for aerial transport, thus simplifying and hastening the load/unload procedure.
Production aircraft were to be designated C-128.
Only one XC-120 was built and tested and the project went no farther.
