[edit] Silver
So, you can't play online with silver?--Kondrayus (talk) 20:27, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- As the article text notes, upgrading to a gold account gives one the ability to play online. If silver accounts also had this capability, there would be virtually no distinction between the two, and hence no real incentive to subscribe to the service. --Slordak (talk) 14:33, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
True.--Kondrayus (talk) 22:31, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Two price tables?
Is there any particular reason there's two price tables? One with the prices in the original currency and one with the price in USD. It seems to have been added on October 21st in this edit, but I wanted to check here before taking it out, since it's been in so long. Just seems kind of... redundant? Possibly misleading if the exchange rates changed? Whatever, I guess. --Ryajinor (talk) 23:54, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
- So you're the guy who removed my tables? Alright, now I know who to hate. That was a lot of work, and it was because it was INTERESTING to see how much more or less people in other countries were paying. --TIB (talk) 23:40, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Live servers messed up
The live servers have been experiencing connection problems and there have been issues with matchmaking and account management for a week or more, does anyone have details? 68.159.83.199 (talk) 02:54, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
- I saw mention of Live ID transaction problems, but nothing published yet. Zune Marketplace might also be affected. [1] -- SEWilco (talk) 06:06, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, also some guys in texas are trying to sue xbox for a good million..
[edit] Possible copyright violation: "Holiday 2007 Issues" section
The majority of the section titled "Holiday 2007 Issues", originally added by 70.15.10.90 on January 3, 2008 at 10:52 AM EST (revision 181874708), appears to have been copied and pasted from a GameSpot article at http://www.gamespot.com/news/6184221.html, possibly in violation of a copyright (see: Wikipedia:Copyright violations). As such, I have tagged the section with the {{copypaste}} template.
Please re-write this section or remove it. Thanks. lightsup55 ( T | C ) 20:01, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- I removed the section, though it is a shame to have lost the work you did on the section after it was added. Dreaded Walrus t c 20:08, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
-
- Yeah, I agree with every word you said. Though I do want to note that I only noticed that the section was copied from that GameSpot article only after I added the reference to it. I'll see if I can re-write the section myself sometime later today as I do believe that it is very notable for inclusion to the article. lightsup55 ( T | C ) 20:15, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

-
- Yep, it certainly got a lot of coverage, and you did find a lot of refs for it too. I'd have nothing against it going back in rewritten. Again, good work on the section. :) --Dreaded Walrus t c 20:24, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Differences Between Memberships
What are the differences between memberships? Can you download add-ons with a silver membership? 76.126.35.84 (talk) 18:59, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is NOT a forum for general discussion. The best place to look for an answer to your question would be on Xbox.com lightsup55 ( T | C ) 19:43, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
That's not general discussion. This is: I don't care how long ago this was written, but "can you download add-ons with a silver membership" seems like a valid question to me (I think the answer to the question is now in the article). People like you (Lightsup55) are dicks. Lighten up. PigManDan (talk) 21:45, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Xladb.jpg
Image:Xladb.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Achievement Listing
I wondering if we can list the Achievemts of the Xbox 360 games. Not say showing the serets one but have it listed like this. Or some thing like this.
500/500 total
- achievement 1
- achievement 2
- achievement 3 (Secret)
Or having it like this
500/5000 total
- achievement 1
- achievement 2
- (Secret)

[edit] Cancellations
There has been a lot of stuff written in the past few months about problems associated with cancelling Gold accounts. I've added some of this to the article, however it might flow a little better if there was an explicit section dealing with these criticisms. Any thoughts? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.113.30.214 (talk) 04:45, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- non-notable blogs are not appropriate sources. try to find something more reputable. xenocidic (talk) 04:51, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
-
- I'm not really sure how we can find something more reputable on a subject like this. Some minor criticism of the cancellation procedures isn't likely to make the pages of a newspaper or publications of a similar stature. At best there might be a review article out there which mentions it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.113.30.214 (talk) 05:00, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- See what you can find. Review WP:Sources (especially the bit about self-published sources) and WP:WikiProject Video games/Sources. also, don't forget to sign your posts with four tildes ( ~~~~ ) . You might also consider creating an account and joining the WP:WikiProject Video games and/or the WP:WikiProject Xbox xenocidic (talk) 05:07, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Serious Question
Is it just me... or is this article a load of rubbish? It talks for paragraphs and paragraphs about Xbox Live's "members" and how many have "subscribed" and how Microsoft "celebrates" these victories and all that jazz... and then it says that this counts Silver users!!! I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Silver users HAVE NOT paid for the service and CANNOT play online - it's just a gimmick that comes with every Xbox, so I believe it is extremely misleading and deceitful to talk about a subscription online gaming service and count people who HAVE NOT subscribed and cannot play games on it! Please, please, please tell us how many people USE and PAY FOR Xbox live, that is, how many Gold members there are - that's what people come here to find out (due to internet rumours that only 5-10% of Xbox users pay for Live) - but instead the article completely misleads them unless you read very closely, right to the end, and realise it's all a load of rubbish and the number just represent how many Xboxes are sold. --DreamsReign (talk) 20:39, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
Well that was a nice rant. You should get a blog.--8bitJake (talk) 19:44, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Good Article Review
Hey, I was the reviewer for the GAN for Xbox Live. I found a few problems, but overall I must say it was pretty good. Being an XBOX 360 owner with Live, I know a lot about this subject and to be honest there are several aspects missing. For one, hardly anything was mentioned about achievements on XBOX Live. Achievements are a large part of XBOX Live, and I could understand it because I play a lot on XBOX Live, but to someone say wanting to buy an XBOX 360 and is looking at the Live article, they would be very confused. Another thing, why isn't there a redirect for xbox 360 live. I remember when I first came looking on Wikipedia for a XBOX Live article, I typed in XBOX 360 Live, obviously I got it from search but it should still be there. A few things to work on, I think its good, but I still want a second opinion. Good Luck when the second reviewer reviews, and good day. Warrior4321talkContribs 22:06, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
- You can always put the article on hold and inform the editors that they have a week to work out the issues, in your case, expand the achievement section of the article (with reliable refs of course). Alos, Redirect pages are easy to make and should be no hassle at all, just tell the editors about the pages that need redirects. Hope that helps. -- Noj r (talk) 22:12, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
- Too late now, I'll just go with the second opinion. Warrior4321talkContribs 01:49, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] 2nd opinion
I'll have more comments posted when I have the time, but I do concur with Warrior's assessment that Achievements are missing. I'm also concerned about some sections which aren't adequately sourced and seem more like opinion, such as "Getting online" and "Security". Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 11:37, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- As the concerns above and mine were not carried out in seven days, this article is failed. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 11:33, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Lead is insufficient and the article should clarify when It has been discovered that pretexting has been used happened. hbdragon88 (talk) 00:40, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Nonsense?
"The system makes common use of ports." What the hell does THAT mean? 69.23.139.184 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 14:30, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- I believe it's what was left over after someone decided that specifying the actual port numbers was being too specific, and hence removed the port numbers. What one is left with is a vague statement that doesn't really convey much meaning, so I'll go ahead and take it out. --Slordak (talk) 14:39, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Redirect from gamerscore blog?
Why does gamerscore blog redirect to this page? It is a website from the xbox live team (along with a podcast), whereas it is mentioned only once in passing on this entire page. Seems to be a poor use of a redirect. 151.190.254.108 (talk) 19:36, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
- Probably because no one has up and written an article (or section) about the Gamerscore blog yet? Be bold! write it yourself ;> xenocidic (talk) 19:45, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Here is a start
"Gamerscore blog is an official website for Xbox Live. It is run by members of the Xbox Global Marketing Team. It is frequently updated with news and information about Xbox products and games. It features a weekly audio podcast, screenshots and photos." --8bitJake (talk) 20:17, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
I just did.--8bitJake (talk) 20:22, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Wired Headset
This article includes parts about xbox 360 wireless headset and vision camera but isn't there the wired headset missing? It is probably the most popular accessory and deserves a small section simalr to the wireless. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rooster212 (talk • contribs) 23:08, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
- The wired headset is bundled with the console, that's probably why it does not have it's own section. SeanMooney (talk) 23:14, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
