Xavier De Cuyper

Xavier De Cuyper is a Belgian agricultural engineer and civil servant. He is General Administrator of the Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products (FAMHP) of Belgium.

He graduated as agricultural engineer at the Université catholique de Louvain (Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium).

He started his career as an assistant at the faculty of agronomical sciences of the university. Afterwards he worked at the department of crop protection of the Belgian ministry of agriculture and in addition he was for a while consultant at the same ministry.

In 1985 he became director general of the ministry of trades people and agriculture and in addition he got the supplementary task the establish the Belgian food agency. Afterwards he was Chef de Cabinet for minister Louis Michel and Didier Reynders. On 1 May 2007, he succeeded Piet Vanthemsche as General Administrator of the Belgian Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products.
