A google search of Wikipedia pages with the name Xavier has about 7,000 hits. We should probably expand this page with that information. - Ozzykhan 16:22, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Interconnection of disambiguation pages
In the interest of avoiding confusion for future editors, I'm adding the following notes...There are three interconnected dab pages related to the main article, St. Francis Xavier. They are Xavier, St. Xavier (disambiguation), and St. Francis Xavier (disambiguation). I have sorted the dab links based on the actual names used by the schools which are listed. Therefore, if only the name Xavier is used, the link appears on the Xavier page. If the name used is St. Xavier or some variation (Saint Xavier, St. Xavier's), then it goes on St. Xavier (disambiguation). If the name includes St. and Francis and Xavier or Xavier's, then it appears on St. Francis Xavier (disambiguation). I have also changed all redirects to follow this convention. The two dab pages with Saint in the title both have a link in the intro line to St. Francis Xavier (main article), and of course all the pages have links to each other under See also. Why is the URL denoting "Xavier University" filled with a glut of everything Xavier? If this has been decomissioned to the level of a "disambiguation" page - why not only have listings of Universities with Xavier in their name? Also - it should be noted that the Google search of "Xavier" (university or otherwise) produces a result of Xavier University in Cincinnati, followed by New Orleans. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.215.128.12 (talk) 02:48, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for your edits. I think moving Xavier University to redirect to the Cincinnati school is appropriate, since that was by far the most wanted link when I fixed the disambiguous links to Xavier University. The hatnote there will help anyone who needs a different school. I have taken the position that Xavier University by itself is better as a redirect than a disambiguation page, in order to avoid double or indirect disambiguation. [edit] Merge suggestion
I do not think I would support a merge at this time, since it would combine one long dab page and one medium dab page into one REALLY long page. There is no overlap (doubling of links) on the pages, and they are appropriately crosslinked in the "See also" sections to help searchers. SlackerMom (talk) 18:41, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
