Thanks for the quick reverting -- you're very fast on the draw! bikeable (talk) 06:33, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

NP, I'm sure you'd do the same for me! xaosflux Talk/CVU 06:34, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

User: Turboboom and an Edit war

I saw you warned TurboBoom on his talk page earlier about the 3RR and his reverts of a section on the Xbox 360 page. I believe he made another account "GorbaLor" and is using it to get around the 3rr, on both Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. If you look at the history on both pages GorbaLor (new user) just simply reverts to what TurboBoom had. On the Xbox 360 page it was blatant vandalism where he was blanking a section and when asked to move it to where he believes it to go he blanks it and says "you move it". Now it's been blanked again without any comment on the discussion page section I made for commenting on the issue, and I don't think i'm allowed to add it back due to 3rr.

I'm kinda new here and really don't know how to deal with stuff like this so i'm posting a not here since I saw you looked at him. If I need to post to someone else or somewhere else please let me know :) Thanks SeraphimXI 07:35, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

Oscar images

Hey, I just wanted to ask your opinion about something. 81.240.202.11 and Special:Contributions/NWill (the same user, I'm sure) has been making some useful additions to List of Academy Award winning movies, but this user has also added an non-free image removed to many pages in a format that doesn't seem to be useful to pages such as Pulp Fiction, Kramer vs. Kramer, and L.A. Confidential. The image is set at the top of the page, is left-aligned, and is not explained, but beside that, there are categories to describe things like that. I left a note on his talk page, and he has since stopped adding the images, but he also hasn't responded, so I'm asking you for your opinion on the matter. Thanks, JHMM13 (T | C) 20:28, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

This doesn't look usefl for anything at all, and seems to disrupt the pages. Buutttttttttttt......It may have some use:BUt it would require some work, and maybe this person would be up for it, I'm thinking an Oscar award winning movies sub category of oscars by year, and include something like this as part of a non-intrusive navigational type tempalte, probally best located in the same place (I'd suggest the bottom center) of the articles. xaosflux Talk/CVU 04:28, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
Yeh, that's what I thought. So do you think I should revert all these pages, then? I will leave a message for the user involved (quoting what you say, if that's ok), and I'll guide him to categories and other such things. JHMM13 (T | C) 04:34, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
I think removing these images seems fine, but I wouldn't get in to an edit war about it, it will probally become apparent, as many other editors of these popular will probally remove them as well. It would be polite, but not required, to message them about removing their contributions, be careful not to remove any other contributions in between (might want to just edit it off rather then trying to revert per se). You are more then welcome to link to what I posted above, but I am in no way an authority of content; but am an outside view on these. xaosflux Talk/CVU 04:40, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for the information, and I wouldn't get in an edit war about anything, I don't think I've done that in the past :-). I usually just make a revert if it seems clear, and then if it is debated, I discuss the issue. Then sometimes, like in this issue, I ask for a third opinion from a user I know to be respectable. Thanks again, and I'll drop you a line if anything strange happens. JHMM13 (T | C) 04:43, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

No prob, If it comes to an RFC let me know, I'll copy my 'Third Party Opinion' up. xaosflux Talk/CVU 04:47, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism

Yup...very good idea. I'm not going to put the notice on the page though - I'm going to be patient and stick around for the next 15 minutes and remove it. --HappyCamper 03:58, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

Image:WikiThanks.png No problem...I should thank you too - for your diligent work on Wikipedia. Glad to see someone who knows how to keep on top of things :-) Here's a WikiThanks for your hard work well done! --HappyCamper 04:13, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

Question regarding the page Oceanic Flight 815

Hello I have cleaned up the page and after asking the original deletion notifier about my changes he viewed it and removed his deletion request and suggested a move. I am hoping to move the page to "Oceanic Airlines flight 815" as I think it is for the best yet I am a new member so I can not do so. Do you think you could take another look at "Oceanic flight 815" and see if you think I have improved the article enough for it to stay. User:Jezabelda

Thanks for the note, I've updated my comments on the AfD to Speedy Keep. xaosflux Talk/CVU 05:15, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

User page - menu

Hello, your doing some quality patrolling there, I apologize for distracting you with this message; but your User page is ... um, aethetically challeged. :"D If you'd like I can try to rearrange it for you. Less important, but a personal project of mine is to keep Wikipedia 800x600 compliant, your menu is too wide for my ol' monitor. Anyway, keep up the great work! - RoyBoy 800 06:36, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the offer. I have put some time in to my userpage, but I'm not married to it. I generally have my resolution set to 1280x1024 or higher, just switched down to 800x600 and cringed! I just copied my page over to My Sanbox 4 feel free to suggest any changes in there, then leave me a talk note. Thanks! xaosflux Talk/CVU 06:45, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Please use {{rail-stub}}, not {{train-stub}}

Please use {{rail-stub}}, not {{train-stub}}. The latter is a redirect to {{rail-stub}}. Thanks. Slambo (Speak) 11:57, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Good point, I've done my share of work with stubs, and didn't consult The List first, assuming I guessed correctly by the blue link in preview mode. However, if you don't want people using redirected stub templates, instead of taking it up one editor at a time, why not bring it up for deletion? -- xaosflux Talk/CVU 01:05, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/JzG

I note your comments and (ever one to learn from my mistakes) have added the "force edit summary" js to my monobook.js, to stop me forgetting in future. Thanks for the heads-up. - Just zis  Guy, you know? [T]/[C] RfA! 13:00, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, I wasn't going to give you an Oppose for it, as your other edits seemed ok though. xaosflux Talk/CVU 00:38, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
And as your edit summaries have now greatly improved, I changed to support, keep up the good work! xaosflux Talk/CVU 17:08, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

Wow, in almost three years, RC patrol and 10,000 edits, this is my first ever barnstar. That's one item I can strike from my set of Wikipedia stories. Thanks! -- Fuzheado | Talk 06:20, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

I was sure you had them hid away somewhere, but not even in your talk archives! Should have given you the 'missing barnstar' one! xaosflux Talk/CVU 06:21, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Anti-Vandalism Tips

Thank you for the information. I'm relatively new to Wikipedia and although I did realize I was only supposed to post on users' talk pages, it seems I have confused the two in a few instances. I will make the appropriate changes and also "subst: the templates."

Thanks again, CopperMurdoch 01:08, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

need to talk about you (irc stuff)

well, you may notice that the main cvu irc channel is now being locked (there were good reasons for that) and I'd like to talk with you and about the possibility locking the 2nd channel as well, or you may also talk with essjay -- ( drini's page ) 07:43, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

Halo: Combat Evolved

My removal of the fan sites from that page was intentional, as having a list of fan sites goes against the guidelines in WP:NOT and WP:EL. You may want to make a habit of having a look at the page history for an article before reverting an edit, so that you can see the reason why an edit was made before assuming that it was a mistake. I'll go ahead and re-make my edit. If there is some reason why the Halo: Combat Evolved article should go against Wikipedia guidelines and try to duplicate the effort that sites such as Dmoz and Yahoo already do so well, please discuss it with me in Talk:Halo: Combat Evolved. - Brian Kendig 15:01, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Whups - okay - I did screw up; I didn't mean to delete the category links as well. That was my own error. One note, though; if you're assuming good faith, it might have been better to guess that I did have a purpose for my edit beyond deleting the categories, and you should have had a closer look at what was going on. You reverted both of my edits, including one where I added a new section to the page. - Brian Kendig 15:44, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Typo in userboxes?

I notice that in your userboxes, the heading above your programming userboxes is misspelled ("progamming"). Since you specifically requested that people not mess with your userboxes, I thought I'd post here to let you know in case you wanted to fix it.

Have a good day, -Viridian 00:58, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Strip club slang

That's some good short note for the linkage and accidentally flipping the entries, I wish I'd known of em before. Prior to this I had typed out long-winded stuff like "accidentally put the wiki link in the description and vice versa and had to fix it to direct properly." Talk about inefficient. AfD Thanks

Please accept my embarrassingly belated thank you for supporting my RfA, which much to my surprise passed 102/1/1, earning me minor notoriety. I am grateful for all the supportive comments, and have already started doing the things people wanted me to be able to do. And hopefully nothing else... Just zis  Guy, you know? Pgkbot

As Drini was writing some stuff up on pgkbot and computer2 looks like he was experimenting and kicked pgkbot from the channel, even though it wasn't accepting commands in any other so it got a bit stuffed up by the looks...

Just for info if the bot gets stuck and status is saying it hasn't seen an event in quite a long time the command to use is pgkbot reader reset (as op) which causes it to disconnect and reconnect to the wikimedia RC feed. --pgk(talk) 17:48, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

Forgot to add channel swapping should work, so you can easily just swap the two channels around with

pgkbot dest swap #wikipedia-en-vandalism #wikipedia-en-vandalism2

Hip Forums

Hi, Something went astray with my revert on the Hip Forums page. Please be assured I wouldn't make such nonsense changes, and I spend most of my time reverting vandals. It's pretty embarrassing that my name is attached to that edit. It may have been a bug in the mediawiki software, as I'm positive I was reverting to remove the vandalism. So please don't think I'm some idiot :)! Thanks --Jgritz 04:39, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Additionally, do you mind if I remove the vandalism warning off my page, as this makes me look pretty bad. --Jgritz 04:41, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
I think I've solved this - I accidently reverted to this version by anon IP 209.7.140.14. It's still a bit odd though, because I would of had to have gone back about 20 edits to get to this version. Thanks --Jgritz 08:09, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Intros

Thank you for the warm welcome, but it's not really necessary - I've been hanging out around here for over a year. I guess I'm just now starting to register on peoples' radar. As should be expected - apart from the handful of translations, all I've done is corrections. Hell, I even have the WikiGnome userbox. So let's get to it. Wareq

Your message for vandalism

I got a message on 202.68.145.230, asking me to refrain from Vandalism. I normally use this id of mine Cygnus_hansa (appearing for Magicalsaumy) for wikipedia, but sometimes I do tend to forget to log in. But whatever be the case, I have never been involved in Vandalism or deletion. I am rather confused how could you get the impressionn that the id given above is doing vandalism.

Again, note that our hostel uses our institute's or hostel's proxy servers, so it could be possible that one of my fellow hostelite is doing such vandalism. Cygnus_hansa 07:59, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

The vandalism type message that I sent to 202.68.145.230 was regarding This edit, removing the article. If this was not you, please disregard the message to the IP, it was probally someone else using your proxy. xaosflux Talk/CVU 21:10, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Star, Mississippi

Hiya xaosflux. You tagged this article for speedy deletion a few hours back. Just to keep you informed, I did a bit of research and found it's a real place, so shouldn't be deleted as long as it was expanded. I've added a bit of info to get it up to a stub, and will add some more later. Keep up the good work though ;) Proto t c 10:23, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

When I taged this for CSD, it did seem to qualify under CSD-A1, very short, providing no context, a substub at best. Your additions have blossomed it to a full stub, and I totally agree it does not qualify for CSD now. Thanks! xaosflux Talk/CVU 21:14, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
