[edit] wp:mos
Hi there, I notice you've made some decent edits to articles on soccer players, but you must read Wikipedia's manual of style before proceeding further. In particular, read the part on section headers, and how sections are named. You'd know what I'm talking about when you read it. Thanks. Chensiyuan 10:19, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Dates and sections
Hi, with regard to date formats, you may want to have a look at Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers), particularly the first paragraph (consistency within an article) and second paragraph (changing formats). Also, with reference to this edit to Radhi Jaidi, you may want to review Wikipedia:Guide to layout#Headers and paragraphs, particularly where it says Just as for paragraphs, any sections and subsections that are very short will make the article look cluttered and inhibit the flow. Short paragraphs and single sentences generally do not warrant their own subheading. cheers, Struway2 12:15, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Flag Icon
"Here, a flag icon might be appropriate, e.g. next to the national team the article subject played for."

- Let me clarify the use of flags in infoboxes. There are two points.
-
- You're correct that flags are not for use with place of birth. This is made clear at WP:FLAGS#Not for use in locations of birth and death.
- User:JEPAAB is correct that according to WP:FLAGS#Using too many flags, a single flag icon might be appropriate, e.g. next to the national team the article subject played for. This means a single flag icon, not one against every level of national team from under-15 upwards. Using one flag icon is informative, six is decorative. See WP:FLAGS#Help the reader rather than decorate. So you would be right to remove excess flags from an infobox where the player has appeared at several age levels, but one is permitted.
- I have posted a similar message on User:JEPAAB's talk page. hope this helps, cheers, Struway2 09:43, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
-
- Hi, my personal take on this is that I have no problem with all flags being removed, I don't think they help at all and never include them myself. Though when someone has included a national team flag then I'll leave it there, on the basis the might be appropriate can be used as justification. As you say, what might be appropriate actually means is debatable.
-
- Sorry if what I wrote above was unhelpful, comes of posting in a hurry on two people's talk pages rather than thinking clearly first. Thank you for wanting to discuss the matter, and please carry on with improving articles. cheers, Struway2 09:25, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Recoba
Hi. Unfortunately the anon editor concerned appears to have the sort of IP address that changes every time he/she logs on, which makes communication difficult. Most of that section is taken from the Guardian article mentioned, though rewritten in an even more emotive style. Might I suggest you leave Mr Recoba alone for a bit and I'll have a go at improving the playing style section with input from other sources (it probably won't be today, as I know very little about the man apart from he takes a mean free kick). Maybe the anon editor won't take as much offence if he/she sees stuff being added? we can but hope :-)
You do seem to have been busy cleaning up and assessing articles, I'm impressed. Might I just remind you about date formats as per the Manual of Style, which says that so long as dates conform to one of the two acceptable formats, they should only be changed for consistency within an article, and if the article mostly uses one format, that one should be kept.
Thanks for asking my advice, please don't hesitate to do so again if you think I can be of help. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 09:58, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
