Talk:WZBH
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The day I resigned from WZBH I closed the door to that chapter on my life and never looked back. My husband and I, happy, very much in love, are moving forward with life in Baltimore and I couldn't be more at home or happier to be anywhere than back in the city. However, at this point I will chime in to set the record straight on a few things, because i was the last man standing after the rise and fall of MMC and can say I was proud to be a part of a station that was once upon a time a great thing. It makes me sad that the staff who is there now will never experience the greatness of being on top the way that we once did. I would like to point out by the way that that great "solid" staff that is on the air now that S--- keeps taking credit for was all hired and trained my myself and Miki excpet for that new afternoon guy and JT. The plan was always for Megan to replace me, Miki and I hired her for that reason, because I was looking to leave long before I ever actually walked out the door. The majority of that staff upper management was trying to fire right before I left and has had to resort to using because, to be honest, the talent pool for radio has pretty much been drained. The company as a whole doesn't want to pay anyone to work there and refuses to recognize the cost of living in the year 2007. Unfortunately for them you just can't live off of less than 20k anymore so therefore the list of applicants through the door is few and far between and most of them suck. The point is this, it doesn't matter how WZBH got to where it is today, its story is long and dark and filled with nasty little seacrets the details of which have been misconstrued over the years. The real reason things fell apart was that the stress got to each and every one of us. The stress of long hours, the stress of no pay, and the stress of trying to maintain a normal homelife while trying to maintain the empire that we had made. Murph was one of the biggest heartbreaks of my life. I looked up to him, and respected him, he was that big brother and father figure that I needed at 21 years old when I was out on my own for the first time. He was someone I truly admired who turned out to be not such a stand-up guy after all. He grew up on the streets of Baltimore though, I guess that is to be expected. Miki represented everything I admired, hard work, dedication and had a passion for what she did. Together we logged a lot of long hours. Say what you will, but no one knows how hard it is to be a female in a male dominated business. We were in the business of personality where the male ego runs rampid, it didn't matter how much respect you gave, sometimes there just wasn't any getting it back. For every person who ever worked there, I am sure they are thankful for the experience that they had for it is a stepping stone that got them to the place they are now. Murph always used to tell jocks when their egos got too big that they have to remember that WZBH has been around a long time, and will continue to be around once they are gone. I'm sure late at night all our voices still echo in those halls from time to time and I am sure there will be many more jocks to follow. Close the chapter let it go, life only goes forward and cant' go back. Remember it for what it was and recognize it for what it is, a time in your life that got you to where you are right now. I am sorry we hurt each other along the way and I am sorry that the lines between personal and professional got blurred, but I am not sorry that I was a part of the whole experience. [edit] POV
The history section of this article form the second paragraph on down seems to be nothing less then a pov/opinion by some disgruntled listener or former employee, this is also based on the various edits from various accounts anons and regs that have edited as well as the statement above. Hopefully some one with a knowledge of history of the station and not the opinion on the operations of can fix this article other wise, i don't see any reason not to just dump the section as a whole or at the least the section for the second paragraph on down, as this is not a soapbox, see WP:NOT.--Boothy443 | trácht ar 19:26, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
