[edit] Photos
Hi Winston - thanks heaps for the photos of the suburbs - they're high quality and really good - it's nice you can share them here on Wikipedia. Feel free to replace the map with a photo; just move the map below to the main body of the article if you'd like, except for capital cities; if people don't like it they'll soon figure out the best thing to do. If you have any pictures of railway stations, feel free to contribute - there's a list here if you can help in any way. I don't have the intercity stations on that list yet but just scroll through the links from the other pages to find which ones have photos and which ones don't. Ferry wharves, too, need pictures, and neither of the T-Way articles have an illustrative pictures (though that might change if I ever get a chance to go and take one of them). They're some suggestions anyway, but feel free to contribute where you'd like to. JRG 13:04, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification. I don't really have many photos of railway stations still in use as nowadays, I generally just drive around. I do like abandoned stations/lines however but I've found that the pages for the stations generally don't exist yet, e.g. Rylstone, Dunheved or Malabar to name a few. I have a few of ferry wharves, I've uploaded a pic for Lavender Bay wharf, I'll try and look some others. Wyp 06:14, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

I don't know if it's just my watchlist you're cluttering up with all your photos, but from what I see I like it. Please, keep it up! Garrie 21:21, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] gallery
It's pretty easy to set up a user sub-page as a gallery. Given the number of photos (most of which seem pretty darn good to me) you may want to do that rather than shoot people off to some other website? Something like User:Wyp/Sydney Gallery with all your WP:SYD pics inside <gallery> tags would be quick and easy to set up. Garrie 21:25, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have a look into it after I finish my uni assignments. Wyp 06:14, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Westfield Hurstville
Just something random for you to know, my UNSW lecturer for Urban Design used this photo of yours, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Hurst5.JPG in his lecture, without referencing you I might add. ;) Wyp 09:55, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Copyright
Sadly you do not have permission to use images of Waverley Cemetery. Interesting though it was, it has been removed. To be granted permission you must complete a filming application with the cemetery first.
- I thought that the laws in Australia were that as long as you take it from public property it's permissible? The photograph was taken on public property. Various court cases in the past have supported this view. Refer to http://4020.net/words/photorights.php
- Quote: "Once you leave their property however, there is nothing to prevent you from taking photographs from outside its borders. This was the finding in the 1937 Victoria Park case, and it is still law. Thus for example the July 2006 photography ban at Melbourne's Southgate Precinct was carefully limited to pictures taken inside the centre. Even management admitted they were powerless to stop people from taking photographs outside."

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:N2204474_34921189_3749.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:N2204474_34921189_3749.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 16:40, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your Photos
Just wanted to say that I like your pics! I think you have a good sense of composition :) I checked out some of your pics on Flickr and they're pretty awesome too. I particularly like the Stairs one and "Sydney at Dusk from Darling Point". Anyway, Keep up the great work!— *Hippi ippi 09:51, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
Hi I noticed that you have a picture of the Malabar Battery. I actually discovered the site myself and took quite a few photos. Here are some images of a similar nature. I took about 95 percent of the pics in the cat

[edit] photo use
Dear Winston,
I am currently writing the history of a steel technology developed by Beth. Steel in the U.S. and later licenced by John Lysaght Australia (now BlueScope Steel) for production in Australia. This is a privately published, not-for-profit book which will record the history of the technology and the company I work for in honor of the company's 30 years in business.
I have had trouble getting the Australians to submit photo images for inclusion in the book (-too 'busy' to scrounge them up, I suppose); and so, I have taken it upon myself to gather a few on my own.
I wonder if I might use your image of Port Kembla as a small margin-sized photo in our history? I believe the tall stack in the image is part of BlueScope's facility there; but even if not, at least it gives a 'feel' for the area where their mill is located.
Let me know if this is OK.
Sincerely, J. L. Tyler —Preceding unsigned comment added by Odonataphile (talk • contribs) 19:09, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
> Hi, sorry for taking so long to reply, yeah sure, feel free to use my Port Kembla photograph or any photo of mine you would like. Attribution to "Winston Yang" would be nice but not necessary. :)
Thanks, Winston! -I'll make sure your photo credit makes it into the caption.
[edit] Speedy deletion of Image:HarringtonNSW.jpg
A tag has been placed on Image:HarringtonNSW.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Kelly hi! 02:56, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'll ask an admin to undelete the photo - sorry, it wasn't clear from the image description that you were the photographer. Kelly hi! 11:59, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Photo use - prospect dam
Hi Winston, I'm researching images for an exhibition at the Australian Museum. One of the exhibits is a touchscreen which shows what happens to Sydney if sea levels rise. We're highlighting various areas of Sydney with small iconic thumbnail images, and one area is Prospect Reservoir. I was wondering if it would be possible to feature your photo of the reservoir for this purpose? All the best, Antonia Monkeyfive 55 (talk) 01:38, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Antonia, sure, not a problem. Attribution is appreciated but not necessary. Regards, Winston. Wyp (talk) 10:15, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanking you! Will most definitely try and include attribution. Greatly appreciated...Best Antonia —Preceding unsigned comment added by Monkeyfive 55 (talk • contribs) 05:37, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
