Wye Valley Walk

The Wye Valley Walk [1] is a long distance footpath in Wales and England following the course of the River Wye [2].

The whole route now that it has been extended runs for 136 miles [3].

Traditionally running from the river's mouth at Chepstow in Monmouthshire, to Rhayader via Newtown, Presteigne and Builth Wells, a total of 112 miles (181 km) long. The route has now been extended to start/finish at the source of the river Wye on Plynlimon mountain near Aberystwyth, a new total of 136miles.

The route passes through Chepstow [4], the Wye Valley AONB, Tintern [5], Monmouth, Ross-on-Wye [6], Symonds Yat, Hereford [7], Hay-on-Wye, Builth Wells [8], Rhayader, to mighty Plynlimon.

It follows the border [9] between Wales and England and permits a greater insight into the differences and similarities between the scenery [10], history, language and culture of both.
