[edit] Midgely deletion of material

- The European Commissioner for Health and Consumer Protection blamed the presence of illegal steroids in the food supply on "fraudulent exchange and disposal of pharmaceutical waste". A Wyeth factory disposing of the byproducts from synthetic progesterone manufacture was the source of the contamination. [1]
I have put it back in. The same user changed my active voice sentence to passive voice in another edit - no good writing midge but thanks for removing POV style lang which came from the source. Mccready 07:02, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- Whatever. I didn't think that a company whose name is not mentioned and I forget using wastewater to make something that was then fed to animals was really either encyclopaedic about Wyeth, nor that the paragraph was well-enough written to remain in the page in its present form. It looks more like a piece of something else to me. The phrasing is really rather painful, and it is arguably libellous. Midgley 12:09, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
Is this information even relevant to Wyeth? The waste disposal was contracted to a 2nd party (Cara), who then sold it to 3rd party (Bioland), who then disposed of it improperly. I think it is notable enough for an article about Bioland, but not Wyeth. This bullet should be removed. Mc roach 00:39, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Someone more familar with editting please correct the folowing
The controversial drug was not Phentermine, but fenfluramine. Wyeths produced it, along with their licenced dexifenfluramine. Fenflurimine is actually a combination of both levo- and dexi- fenfluramine.
[edit] Serious controversies about Wyeth products
I'm not experienced enough to edit this page, but there are issues about this company that should be present and aren't. Is there someone that can add this info, please?
1) There is almost certainly a link between Prempro and Premarin and increased breast cancer risk. 2) The methods of obtaining and producing Prempro and Premarin are controversial as they involve animal cruelty. 3) Wyeth continues to push Congress to pass legislation (Bioidentical Health Legislation) to make it illegal for doctors to prescribe compounded medicines which are in direct competition to some of Wyeth's products. These alternative medications are safe and effective, available by prescription only, and necessary to many thousands of patients.
Thank you much! Atelic 07:14, 3 May 2007 (UTC)atelic
