Talk:Wychnor Hall

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This page is misnamed. The correct title of the home is Wychnor (or Wichnor) Park, not Hall. MarmadukePercy (talk) 01:16, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

  • It is certainly named Hall in the English Heritage, National Monuments Record Images of England. See the references to the articleOrdyg (talk) 19:18, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
  • In the volume "The Levetts of Staffordshire," written by Dyonese Levett Haszard, and a descendant of both the Levetts of Milford Hall and those of Wychnor (as well as a contributor -- footnoted -- to the Victoria County History of Staffordshire), the home at Wychnor (or Wichnor) is referred to as "Wychnor Park." A google search for "Wychnor Park" turns up 3,250 results; a search for "Wychnor Hall" turns up 212 results. MarmadukePercy (talk) 21:57, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
  • Also, (as can be confirmed by a google book search), there are many mentions of "Wichnor Park" in Burke's various guides to the gentry and heraldry. There is no Burke's or Debrett's mention of 'Wychnor Hall' or 'Wichnor Hall.' MarmadukePercy (talk) 22:25, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
