{{helpme}} How can permanent protection on some pages be removed? Yes, that kind of protection maybe designed to prevent pages from being messed up by disruptive editors. However, some of those in goodwill may want to modify or improve their quality. Wubzy (talk) 09:14, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Template:WikiProject Business & Economics and Template:WikiProject France. Wubzy (talk) 10:29, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
You can either use {{editprotected}} for simple edits, and an admin will do it for you, or you can put a request for page unprotection here.Microchip 08 12:46, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Project banners

Other than those project banners that already exist, is it okay to create new versions of them with new designs? Wubzy (talk) 06:04, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

If you want to create a new banner that is totally fine. Anyone can edit Wikipedia, but I suggest you contact the person who created the banner, if you intend to create a new one for that WikiProject. Remember it must be named as Qxz-ad followed by the ad number. Also, check out WP:BANNER. Hope this Helps. SimpsonsFan08 (talk) 15:06, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Excuse me, but what do you mean "must be named Qxz-ad followed by the ad number."? Wubzy (talk) 23:45, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

I believe SimpsonsFan08 is referring to WP ads. Are you mentioning WikiProject talk page banners? §hep¡Talk to me! 00:30, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Yes. Wubzy (talk) 03:55, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Talk Page Banners are generally created and edited by members of that specific WikiProject. If you have some layout ideas you should address the Project first and gain consensus before editting. Keep in mind though that most banners can contain ParserFunctions and other intricate syntaxes (such as the Military History banner). If you need anything else leave a message here and place {{talkback|Wubzy}} on my user page and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. §hep¡Talk to me! 03:45, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for some additional info. Tell you what, I've already made a secondary project banner for the WikiProject France earlier. The only difference between the old banner and the one I made is the picture being used (the old one features the French flag while mine features the Eiffel Tower). I would have contacted the one who made the old banner regarding my plan but that user is most likely inactive. As of now, there doesn't seem to be any reaction from any member of that project. Perhaps they approved it.
Originally, I planned to modify the WikiProject France template. But because it has a protection where only administrators can edit. That's when I decided to make a secondary one. I would have request an admin for unprotection or make an edit for me, but I often think that they would just refuse.
Sooner or later, I think I'll make a secondary template for the Business and Economics project. Wubzy (talk) 06:21, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
As far as I know WikiProjects should only have one banner. Let me do some digging to make sure. §hep¡Talk to me! 06:25, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Hey, just got done talking with some senior editors and they all agree that using a secondary template is against current policy. I'm going to have to ask you to stop. If you have any other questions feel free to contact me. §hep¡Talk to me! 18:27, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Nah, userboxen come by the tons...templates are another story because of the syntax. §hep¡Talk to me! 00:29, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] (Belated) Welcome

Hi, Wubzy, Welcome to Wikipedia!

Welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you enjoy the encyclopaedia and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read about the simplified ruleset. If you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. If you need help look at Wikipedia:Help and the FAQ; plus, if you can't find your answer there, check the Village Pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions). There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Also, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my user talk page.

[edit] Additional tips

Here are some extra tips to help you get around in Wikipedia:

  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • You can sign your name using four tildes (~). It will also print the UTC date and time, and it is strongly recommended you familiarise yourself with its usage.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the appropriate votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
  • If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your Wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing.
