WTOB

WTOB, at 1380 AM, is one of several Spanish-language radio stations in the Greensboro-High Point-Winston Salem area. WWBG, at 1470 AM, airs the same programming.

[edit] History

WTOB was a Top 40 station in Winston-Salem, North Carolina during the 60s and 70s. In the 80s the station played adult standards in addition to airing local and regional sports events, talk programs such as "Marge at Large", and other local content such as a barbershop music program. At the end of the 80s, most of the station's music came from Satellite Radio Networks. The station later switched to all news. Truth Broadcasting eventually purchased the station and switched it to Christian talk, airing the same programming as WCOG. WTOB was later paired with WWBG, and eventually the switch to Spanish programming was made. The current programming includes feeds from Mexico, and a couple of local shows. Unfortunately, their ratings fell from the top 50 in the Triad.
