WTJZ (1270 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a Gospel Music format. Licensed to Newport News, Virginia, USA, it serves the Hampton Roads area. The station is currently owned by Chesapeake-Portsmouth Broadcasting Corporation.
During the 1960s and early seventies, this station had been country music formatted WTID-AM. In the late 60s and early 70s, the station simulcasted with it's FM sister station at 104.5, WTID-FM. In 1973 , WTID-FM became Top 40 WQRK ( it is now seperatly owned Top 40 WNVZ )
In the late 70s the station became jazz oriented as WTJZ, in the eighties it became Gospel.
