[edit] History
WTHU started when founder Vic Leisner couldn't get Orioles games at his home in Thurmont. In 1967, WTHU was founded and began carried Orioles games as well as an Adult Contemporary (would now be "Oldies") format.
WTHU also carries a unique distinction, it was the last 100 watt full time station to be licensed by the FCC.
On February 15th, 2008, Radio and TV website DCRTV.com reported that Walmer had sold WTHU to the Christian Radio Coalition for $150,000. Once the sale is complete, WTHU will carry a religious format.
==ExVic leisner sold the station in the early 70's to a Lawyer who specialized in FCC law named Lauren Colby. For a time the station did a country format during the day and a contemporary top 40 format after 7:00 PM. Sometime in 1976 the country changed its format to all country and enjoyed some moderate success in thei market. At the time it as run by Colby's wife, petrina, A local farmer and businessman Dean Aubol ran the sales department. The programming was aptly implemented by Gary Jago who had did the very successful morning drive show. The station always managed to find talented help, and always had a great sound for a small market station during the 70's. They also had a loyal list of advdertisers. The Colbys sold the station in the eighties and Petrina along with Dean Aubol purchased a station in Pennsylvania. They had also gotten into syndication with the early forms of satellite radio that beamed programming into the station for re-broadcast while adding local elements such as call letters, local news, local ads but unfortunately, no local on-air talent after implementing this system qat WTHU. ternal links==
