The world Trade Center In Mahattan

[edit] photo details

I was the pilot of the aircraft that took this photo. The photographer was my passenger.

The photo was taken on March 12, 2001 from an altitude of 2,000 feet above the Hudson river. The plane, a Cessna 172 (N9421Z), was flying northbound.

This view of the buildings was not usually available to small aircraft flying along the Hudson. Normally small aircraft need to remain below 1,000 feet. As it happened, we were fortunate enough receive a clearance to make our transit in the controlled airspace at the higher altitude.
