[edit] Call Letters
It became WSMV on November 4, 1981... The station became WSMV-TV on July 15, 1982.
Does this mean the -TV suffix wasn't added to the WSMV calls until 1982? I know it seems painfully obvious from that excerpt, but many people think a set of call sign with or without the -TV suffix is one and the same, so it'd be nice if someone could clear it up.

- What this means was that the station was originally WSM-TV. When it was spun off into a separate operation in 1981 and its callsign changed, at first it was merely WSMV, as there was no other station or any type in the US at that time using those exact call letters, and under those circumstances the FCC did not require diffentiation as it does where callsigns are shared (i.e., AM and FM or AM and TV or FM and TV or all three). However, in 1982 the owners decided to make the callsign WSM-TV for clarity's sake. Rlquall 02:05, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Logos
As another Channel 4, WSM/WSMV's logos have often been similar or identical to those of NBC New York City O&O, WNBC. This may deserve mention. Rlquall 02:13, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Sondra Locke
Another famous station alumna is Tennessee native Sondra Locke, who worked there in the 1960s briefly, but as a production assistant, not in an on-air role. Rlquall 02:14, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
