[edit] History
WSGE signed on the air in October 1980 with an effective radiated power of 3,000 watts. In January 2005, the college approved a lease with Clear Channel Communications for space on their nearby tall tower. The transmitting antenna is now at a height of 806 feet versus the previous just under 200 feet height on the former tower. With approval from the Federal Communications Commission, on June 27, 2005, the station increased its power to 6,000 watts.[1] On September 26, 2006, the FCC granted permission to WSGE to increase its power again to 7,500 watts.
[edit] Programming
WSGE identifies itself as "Your Eclectic Music Station." Its programming is mostly Adult Album Alternative [AAA] formatted music with special emphasis on local, independent musicians and live in-studio performances. Other programing reflects a diversity of styles represented on various "theme" programs. Classic rock is featured every Saturday night, while other hours are filled with such styles as beach music, singer-songwriter, folk, alt-country, and swing.
