Wright R-1300

The Wright R-1300 Cyclone 7 was a US aircooled 7-cylinder supercharged radial engine produced by Curtiss-Wright.
The R-1300 is more or less a single row Wright R-2600. The engine was in mass production but not widely used. Engineering begun in 1942 but the first flight of an R-1300 did not take place until 1949. The engine was produced in license at Kaiser-Frazer and, later, at Lycoming
The engine saw action in the North American T-28 Trojan and the Sikorsky UH-19 Chickasaw. Furthermore it was used in the Ayres Thrush.
For use in helicopters the R-1300-3 was derated to 690.3 hp (515 kW)and uses forced cooling.
