Wright Electrocity

The Wright Electrocity is a type of hybrid bus built by Wrightbus. There were originally two prototypes, one was based on Dennis Dart SLF chassis and the other based on DAF SB120 chassis[1], which have been demonstrated by operators around the United Kingdom. It was the first bus of its kind and later competed with the TransBus Enviro 200H, the bus which has the original Enviro 200 styling, differing from the Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Dart.

The first order of six Electrocity buses (based on VDL SB120 chassis) was placed by Transport for London for use on route 360 (operated by Go-Ahead Group subsidiary London Central) [2], they entered service in early 2006. These buses were meant to be the TransBus Enviro 200H, but when TransBus went into administration in 2004, the bus side was bought by Alexander Dennis. The main aim for Alexander Dennis was to get the business out of trouble, so delivery of the Enviro 200H was delayed. TfL eventually got impatient, and ordered the Electrocity.

In 2007, another five Electrocity buses were built for use on route 129 (operated by Travel London), they entered service in November 2007. They were followed by another one for London Central, which entered service in early 2008.
