Talk:Writing material

[edit] Is this the right name?
The aim for this is essentially historical. Perhaps the title should be "History of writing materials". It stems from my dissatisfaction with the existing articles in WP. Writing intruments didn't make sense to me without some discussion of the writing materials. It seemed likely to become more of antiquarian interest than historical interest. There are articles on individual materials, but the history is lacking and many historically important materials are not covered as writing materials. There is also a tendency for some older materials to be discussed from a craft perspective, rather than a historical one. DCDuring 02:53, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Disambiguating
Hi, You've been visited by the disambiguation project! You had linked to a disambiguation page, viz. Stone. Wikipedia generally tries to avoid doing that since it can be confusing for a reader, especially a reader whose English isn't fluent, to expect an explanation and instead find a series of choices. Rock (geology) seemed like a good place to go for cave walls, but you'll no doubt change it to a better definition if need be. --AndrewHowse 15:25, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- btw you might take a look at Media and decide if this page should be listed there too. --AndrewHowse 15:30, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
