[edit] Page renamed to Wrangell Volcanic Field from Wrangell Volcanic Belt

By far the most common name for this region in the volcanological literature is Wrangell Volcanic Field, not Wrangell Volcanic Belt. See the references I have added for verification. Therefore I have renamed this page and changed all pages that link to it. --Seattle Skier (talk) 18:58, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

I think Wrangell Volcanic Belt is the name for this, because the field appears to be too large if it lies mostly in Alaska and extands across the border into southwestern Yukon. The Wrangell Volcanic Field is probably the cluster of volcanoes found at Mount Wrangell, such as Mount Zanetti and Mount Sanford, Capital Mountain, Mount Drum and Mount Churchill as the map on this site [1]. But it does not include the volcanoes in the Yukon, while the Geological Survey of Canada site does [2] [3] which is called the Wrangell Volcanic Belt. It also includes the volcanoes in Alaska. [edit] Volcanic Status

Could someone please clarify which of the peaks are considered active, dormant or extinct. Would be a nice-to-know if that information is available. It's not mentioned on the individual pages for each peak. --Eddylyons (talk) 04:01, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
