WQBZ is licensed to Fort Valley, Georgia with studios on Industrial Highway in Macon. It became a rock station under program director Nathan Hale in the mid 1980s.
Bear O'Brian was its most controversial morning host in the early 1990s. He ruffled too many feathers and was fired before his time.
Eric Stevens and Chris Ryder replaced Bear in 1991. Eric went through two other co-hosts (Todd Turner Holman and Mark Steele) in his time at WQBZ and was eventually replaced by the syndicated John Boy and BIlly show.
"Jessica" was WQBZ's most famous mid-day host along with "Sarina".
Others working at WQBZ during the 1990s were Amy Sullivan, Kim Kennedy, Chuck "Action Figure" Conners, and Overnight Alex.
Chuck Wallace has worked at WQBZ several times and is back doing afternoons.
Vance Shepherd (current WDEN morning host) also worked at WQBZ for many years.
Ben Jones (meteorologist WMAZ-TV CBS 13) began his broadcasting career at WQBZ while still attending high school. He used the name Ben Michaels and later simply Benjamin. Jones went to WPEZ in 1994 and in 1996 worked afternoons at B-93.7, this time using the name Jones.
Taylor Broadcasting (Marietta, Georgia) owned the station from the mid 1980s through 2002 when it was purchased by Clear Channel.
