WPZE is an Atlanta radio station that plays Urban Gospel. It has a city of license of Fayetteville. Its transmitter is located in Tyrone, Georgia.

[edit] History

Until the fall of 2001, it was Mainstream Urban, "Hot 97.5". Then in late 2001, owner Radio One moved the radio format and the WHTA call letters to 107.9 (bought and moved from former WPEZ, "Z108" in Macon) as "Hot 107.9", and 97.5 became gospel "Praise 97.5". The move was originally planned to be to the new 107.5 (originally WAMJ FM "Magic 107.5", now swapped to 102.5 for WJZZ-FM) until the FCC approved the transfer and reallotment of WPEZ FM nearer to south metro Atlanta. All of the involved stations are owned by Radio One.

WPZE began life at 97.7 licensed to Griffin with the WQUL Kool 97.7 oldies format. When 97.7 upgraded to class C3 moving its tower closer to Atlanta it the urban hip-hop "Hot 97.5" debuted.

In March 2007, WPZE began to carry the Yolanda Adams Morning Show based out of Houston via sister KROI-FM.
