[edit] History

WPYR was originally WYNK, a Country music outlet until its format was moved to the FM side. In the 1990s it switched to Radio Disney, followed by a syndicated talk format in 2002. In 2005, thanks in part to a successful petition, it became the newest member of Air America Radio.

In late 2007, the station switched to Clear Channel's Hallelujah Contemporary Gospel music format. In 2008, the station was sold to Michael Glitner who took the station silent in April of that year and is currently selling the station to Pamal Broadcasting through Davidson Media of Louisiana. WPYR 1380 am is now back on the air with a new format, which is spanish. The station is now the Baton Rouge frequency for La Fabulosa 830 a spanish radio station located in Norco, LA. [1][2]
