Talk:WPYX

Someone should add something about the Larry the Cable Guy incident. In the fall of 2004, the Hartford High School (Hartford, New York) soccer team began using the phrase Git R Dun as a motivational rally cry and went on a winning streak. Shortly thereafter, a feminist student at the school asked the administration to put a stop to the rally cry, saying that it was demeaning to women. The soccer team led its complaints to WPYX morning host known as "the Wolf." The Wolf managed to convince Larry the Cable Guy to call the Hartford School District superintendent and explain that the phrase was not sexist. However, the administration did not back down, threatening suspension to any student who uttered those words during a soccer game while on campus. The Wolf then promised the soccer team to fly an airplane over the field with a banner that read: "Git R Dun" during the next the home game. On that date, several students were situated inches off of school property constantly yelling Git R Dun. Ten minutes into the game, the plane flew over the field, the banner reading: "Wake up with the Wolf. PYX 106 says Git R Dun."
