[edit] Usage

This template {{WikiProject Schools}} adds articles to Category:WikiProject Schools articles and is a self-reference. Please add to relevant articles' talk pages.

This template should be transcluded as {{WPSchools}} and not substituted {{subst:}} because it employs conditional code. Transclusion also allows easy updating of all the Project's talk pages without having to edit thousands of pages.

The template also employs several optional data field parameters as described below. For an example of how the template will appear under various parameter circumstances, please see Template:WikiProject Schools/Examples.

{{WPSchools

|importance=
|needs-infobox=
|info=

|move=
|nested=
|small=
|hide-auto-cats=
}}

[edit] Parameters legend

  • class: Options are FA, A, GA, B, Start, Stub, or List (based on the Wikipedia 1.0 Assessment Scale); or Template, Dab, Cat, or NA all of which are recognized. If blank, this will default as Unassessed.
  • importance: Options are Top, High, Mid, Low based on this scale or NA for articles like templates. If blank, this will default as Unknown importance.
  • needs-infobox: Answer no if the article has an infobox. Defaults to yes but only after an assessment has been made.
  • info: Reasoning for the given assessment (remember to sign with ~~~~). Assessment is not displayed if not specified.
  • page: Defaults to {{BASEPAGENAME}}. Used to override category name (To remove "The")
  • move: If specified, provides a link to move the page to place specified by parameter. To be used with The Schools Naming Convention.
    • This parameter should be the name that the page should be moved to without the namespace. So, for the talk page of "School Name" the parameter would be "move=School Name (Municipality, Region/State)" (e.g. For an article named Council High School (Idaho), specify the parameter move=Council High School (Council, Idaho))
  • nested: If this template is used in a table of talk banners, this parameter can be used to make the banner "shrink" to a simple title and rating
  • small: Answer yes if the template needs to be smaller and lined up vertically on the side of the talk page.
  • hide-auto-cats: Answer yes if you are using this template in an example.

[edit] Notes

To avoid needlessly cluttering up talk pages, it is usually appropriate to remove any unused parameters from the template. A common initial configuration for the template includes the following basic parameters:
