Worst Week is an American sitcom television pilot for CBS. It is the American adaptation of the British sitcom The Worst Week of My Life.[1] It is not the first time this show has been adapted for American audiences. A pilot was ordered by the Fox network and was developed between 2005-2006 called Worst Week of My Life by Regency TV. The show failed to materialize however, and was not broadcast.[2] It was later re-adapted by Universal Media Studios for NBC.[3] The British version of the program is shown on BBC America.[4]
[edit] Pilot
Worst Week will be based on BBC version, The Worst Week of My Life. The show is about a soon-to-be married couple who go on a family holiday with their in-laws for a week. Over the course of the week, the groom keeps getting into all kinds of unexplainable embarrassment, causing his in-laws to hate him.[1]
The pilot will be co-produced between Hat Trick Productions, the production company that produced The Worst Week of My Life and UMS.[3] It is to be adapted and written by Mark Tarses, who worked on the series when it was with NBC. The series is being directed by Marc Buckland. Both will be executive producers, as well as Jimmy Mulville from Hat Trick.[3] The show will be made with a single camera.[4] It is not yet known who will appear in the pilot.
The pilot is notable, as it will be the first major sale for UMS outside of the NBC Universal since it changed its name from NBC Universal TV Studio to indicate itself as a supplier to all major television networks since Katherine Pope took over the company in June 2007.[3]
