worriedaboutsatan is an electronica band from Leeds, UK.
The band comprises Gavin Miller and Tom Ragsdale, who met whilst both attending Leeds College of Music in 2005. The main idea behind the band was to use computer based elements such as drum loops and programming but fuse it with guitar based rock.[1]
The band was initially a side project for Gavin, who was at the time in Leeds band Johnny Poindexter with Tom, but soon turned to worriedaboutsatan full time after Johnny Poindexter split in 2006.
The band name is taken from a song of the same name by Belgian rock band dEUS. It was a B-side to their 1996 single 'Theme From Turnpike'[2]
Musically, the band site post rock bands such as Explosions in the Sky and Mogwai alongside dance music artists such as Underworld and Trentemøller as major influences on their sound.[3]
In an interview with webzine Subba Cultcha[1]
We wanted to shake things up a bit, and not get stuck in the whole 'post-rock' thing of 11 minute songs that sound excactly like Explosions in the Sky or a bad Godspeed rip off. We wanted to fuse elements of everything we listen to- glitch, techno, electronica, rock, metal, etc etc.[4]
The band have so far released two EPs and one single. The first EP is now out of print, but available for free on the worriedaboutsatan last.fm page. The single, 'An Infinity Of Oncoming Lights' is also available for free download from last.fm[5]. The title is a quote from the novel 'A Scanner Darkly' by acclaimed sci-fi writer Philip K. Dick.
'EP02' was released in late 2007 to a largely positive critical response.[6]

[edit] Live Shows
The band use a traditional desktop PC to run the electronic elements, whilst the two members either play guitars or control the PC via a MIDI controller. Earlier shows were known to feature the band playing on the floor, in front of the audience, giving Tom the freedom to walk out into the crowd whilst playing guitar[7], however recently the band have moved to a setup of Tom controlling the PC and Gavin playing guitars[8]
[edit] Trivia
According to the band themselves, the names of five different people were inserted into each track on 'EP02' but are barely audiable.
The band's previous desktop computer was named 'Robert Dell' though Robert was recently retired to home use.
The song 'Morwenna' is named after a friend of Gavin's after he forgot her birthday in 2006.
