Worley Thorne

Worley Thorne is an American scriptwriter and executive script consultant. Thorne's work is mainly in the hourlong drama, encompassing a wide variety of genres, including science fiction, fantasy, detective and mystery, legal, soap opera, medical, animal fiction and family drama.

Thorne was born in New York City, New York, and raised in the Bronx. He is a graduate of the City College of New York, with a B.A. in English.[citation needed]

Thorne's work includes scripts for Star Trek: The Next Generation, The Paper Chase, Fantasy Island, Dallas, Barnaby Jones, The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams, Doctors' Private Lives, and others.

Thorne is a past Governor of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the body which determines and gives out Emmy Awards, and as a member of the Writers Guild of America, west, was chairman of several Guild committees and involved in aiding in organization and supervision of past strikes by the union. Thorne taught screenwriting at Columbia College Hollywood, Los Angeles, from 1974 to 1978,[1] and for several years was a publicist representing entertainment industry, corporate and political clients.
