World Journal (Toronto)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The World Journal (世界日報 Pinyin: Shìjiè Rìbào) is a Chinese language newspaper published in Toronto, Ontario. The paper originally catered to Taiwanese Canadian readers, using transliterations used in Taiwan for foreign names. Despite differences between how words are transliterated in Taiwan and mainland China, however, the paper has subsequently come to be identified with Mandarin speakers in general.
The paper is published 7 days a week in the broadsheet format. News coverage includes international news, news from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and mainland China, business news, sports, entertainment, lifestyle, etc. Compared to the other two Chinese language dailies in Toronto, the World Journal is relatively strong in its coverage of Canadian news.
