World Creole Music Festival

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The World Creole Music Festival is an annual music festival held in Festival City, Roseau, Dominica. It has been held since 1997.

The World Creole Music Festival is not simply a music festival, its a celebration, a celebration of a culture of people and of freedom. The festival is now an important part of Dominica's independence celebration {November 03rd}.

For many its a time of not only celebration and action but also one of reunion, many Dominicans including yours truly live in countries all over the world, and this is one of the times when we go back home as we call it and find old friends and reunite with family. More importantly its three nights of fun partying and all nighters where music fills the air and work is on no-ones mind only Rum in your head.

Here's a list of some of the groups bands and artists who have performed at Dominica's WCMF over the years.

WCK, The First Seranade Band, Triple K Band, Kassav, Tabou Combo, Michelle Henderson, Wyclef, Elephant man, Franky Vincent, Exile One, Destra, Atlantic, ..and much much more.

Leader of the Exile One band Gorden Henderson was one the creators and promoters of WCMF in its early beginnings.[1]
