World Championship in Composing for Individuals

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The World Championship in Composing for Individuals (WCCI) is a triennial competition of the individual composers of chess problems organised by FIDE via the Permanent Commission of the FIDE for Chess Compositions (PCCC).

The WCCI is organized in 8 sections. Composers wishing to participate in any given general section are expected to submit at most 6 of their compositions published in the relevant 3-year period, fulfilling the requirements of the section. The problems submitted are then evaluated by panel of 3 judges and the best 4 of them count for the final result of the composer in the section. (More on rules at the official PCCC page.)

So far there were carried out WCCIs for two 3-year periods, 1998-2000 and 2001-2003. WCCI for period 2004-2006 is currently underway (see the announcement page.)
