Word Alive
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Word Alive was a large student Christian conference held each year at the Skegness, UK Butlins site, during the Easter holiday period. The conference was organised by Spring Harvest, UCCF and Keswick Convention as part of the Spring Harvest bible conference. The conference attracted around 2000 people, largely students. Regular speakers at the conference include Vaughan Roberts and Andrew Sach.
[edit] New Word Alive
In 2007 it was announced that Word Alive would be relaunched, to be held in April 2008 in Pwllheli, rather than Skegness, and would no longer be part of Spring Harvest.
Press releases explaining the split were released by UCCF,[1] Keswick Ministries and Bishop Pete Broadbent of the Spring Harvest leadership team.[2] The statements emphasise different factors leading up to the decision to cease working together. Following a subsequent statement by Pete Broadbent all sides accept that disagreements over Spring Harvest leadership team member Steve Chalke's view of the atonement played at least some part in the split.[3]
