Following the sale of Lonely Planet to the BBC, wordtravels.com claims to be the most popular independent publisher of travel guides and is dedicated to providing authoritative and impartial guides to worldwide destinations, from Azerbaijan to Zurich. Established in 2001 WordTravels.com is now used by more than 20 million people each year. The company also supplies editorial for dozens of travel and media companies including Yahoo, AOL and Expedia. The privately held company has offices in both London and Cape Town, where the editorial team is based.
There is a subscription version of wordtravels.com which is used worldwide by thousands of travel agents that overbrand the guides and print them off for customers.
The website is published by Globe Media Limted, a travel industry publisher which also produces tripreport.com a user-generated travel review site which is integrated with wordtravels.com and includes thousands of hotel and destination reviews.
