[edit] History
The club was formed on 9 September 1902 following the liquidation of another local side, Berwick Rangers. They took over Berwick's fixture list in the Birmingham League for another 36 years.
Worcester's finest football moment was their FA Cup victory over Liverpool (then in the old second division, shortly before the legendary Bill Shankly took over as manager), beating their illustrious opponents 2-1 in 1959. They lost in the 4th round to Sheffield United, in a match which set St George's Lane's record attendance of 17,042.
After leaving the Birmingham League, Worcester City entered Southern Football League and remained there until the formation of the Alliance Premier League in 1979. City stayed in the top division of non-league football before suffering relegation in 1984-85 despite having been top of the league before Christmas.
Richard Dryden was appointed manager in November 2007 following the departure of Andy Preece in October 2007.
