Worcester (North) Parkway is a prospective new parkway railway station in Fernhill Heath, Worcester, United Kingdom. [1] It has yet to be passed and is still in planning stages (after many years).
It would be located on both the Birmingham to Worcester via Kidderminster Line and the Birmingham to Worcester via Bromsgrove Line
It would be likely for Worcester Shrub Hill to close, to justify the passenger numbers. [2]
It would give the north of Worcester local commuter trains easing congestion on the A38. The close proximity to the M5 would draw in longer distance passengers.
It would provide Park and Ride facilities, with a large car park.
It would have 2 platforms on the existing double tracked line.
[edit] History
There was a station called Fernhill Heath not far from the site of the proposed station. However, it was axed in the 1960s.
A new station was first suggested in the 1970s (at Norton), but it was rejected due to cost. Now, new homes have been built in this area of Worcester and nearby so there is more of a case now.
