I've pretty much confirmed that this is the only way to do it; you cannot use inline tables or any block element that is modified to be inlined because Wikipedia surrounds the preceding and following paragraphs with <p> and </p> tags, making the line breaks inevitable. If anyone thinks of something, leave it on my talk page.
