[edit] Why Texas Tech?

I am not now nor have I ever been a student at Texas Tech. So, why invest time in improving articles for a school that I seemingly have no ties to, especially since I live in New Mexico? Here are the reasons:

• First and foremost, my son Matthew was born at UMC in Lubbock. Although premature and very sick, the doctors, nurses, and other medical staff at UMC gave him a shot at life. The medical treatment there is superb and the caring and concern of the staff likely unparalleled. (By way of contrast, at only 11 months of age, Matthew died at University of New Mexico Hospital following a simple surgery. Comparing UMC to UNMH is like comparing a young, healthy stallion to an old, broken-down jackass.)
• Academics. Through my employer, I have been to several trainings on the campus. Further, Tech offers degrees through their Outreach & Distance Education program. This is how I plan to one day get my Bachelor's degree since my present life situation won't allow me to attend college traditionally.
• Sports! I love Red Raider football. Wreck 'em, Tech!

I hereby award Wordbuilder the Barnstar eaten by a bear award for this vandalism warning. Not only was it appropriate to warn the vandal, but to correctly point out their vandalism was really bad since Colorado did beat Nebraska in football last year (2007). Mentioning something about the coach being fired after the Colorado game which caused them to have a losing season next time might be a good idea. MECU≈talk 02:26, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
