[edit] Magitek Armor

It was incorrectly stated, that the Japanese word for Magitek was 魔道. I have changed this to 魔導, which are the kanji used in the game. The pronounciation (madō) is the same. 魔導 is probably a corruption of 魔道, and might sound more exotic, or even evil.

The Japanese translation is Magic-Based armor.

[edit] Espers/Phantom Beasts

While I did not DELETE the term "esper," I did go and place in the alternative for "esper." In the Japanese context, they're known as "Phantom Beasts" or even shorter "Genju." There is an alternative (100%) translation available at this time that features the proper translation, and also includes bug fixes created for Ted Woolsey's translation (he never even attempted to fix them).

The fixes include, but are not limited to, Evade % now actually works, the vengeful Cayene bug is fixed, the item as a hat trick is fixed, etc. These are obviously implemented to fix things like inbalances, as well as bugs that are considered to be "stupid mistakes."

[edit] The need for Japanese names

I don't see the need for every term to have it's Japanese alternative next to it. It serves little purpose and isn't necessary for an encyclopedia entry.

They also made versions for europe, so I suppose we should translate it into every European language too. I think you are right, it is inconsequential. And as for the esper issue, you can make a mention of the japanese version but they are called espers and even though the name is different the base meaning is kept. I think it is ridiculous how many japanese translations we have.

The non-English European names are not pertinent here since this is an English language encyclopedia. The Japanese names are notable because the original work is Japanese. Kariteh 08:11, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Sealed Gate modified.png

Image:Sealed Gate modified.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Why does it link here? I don't see any relevancy. --75.135.82.7 (talk) 03:44, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Merge

This article should be merged to Final Fantasy VI as it fails WP:N. FightingStreet (talk) 18:41, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Which article? I generally oppose any merge as this article is pretty big already. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 14:31, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Sigh, it's a long shot, but I support it, it does fail WP:V as well. I would say it will be mainly a redirect without much merge, as FFVI is already featured. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 01:35, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
